2009 Luau Regatta

The Lake Gregory Yacht Club held the Second Annual Hula Regatta RC boat race on the Radio Control (RC) site at Lake Gregory.  It was a festive event with Hawaiian shirts and leis.

The radio control model sailboat race, the Luau regatta for the Lake Gregory Yacht Club, was held Sunday August 2 2009 at the new RC racing course at Lake Gregory.  There we 10 races from 12:00-2:00 pm, with all racer showing off good racing skills, points were totaled and the results of the 2nd Annual Luau Regatta are:

1st Place - Aaron Creighton

2nd Place - Ernesto Gomez

3rd Place - Don Martin

The RC boat race course is open to all RC sailboats and slow electric boats.  Gas power RC boats are not allowed.  If you have an RC boat you can use the course, located on south side of lake near the entrance to park.  If you would like further information on the site please call Dennis Sharp, 909-338-5582.  In the planning stages is an open race for sailboats and tug/work boats.

RC Model Boating Area
Hi all
I have some good news. An RC model boating area is being established at Lake Gregory near the south parking area. The area is from the new fence going about 200 ft. along the shore and wall to the sand bar. A sign will posted showing that it is for RC model boating, RC sailboats and slow electric.

The area will be open to the public year-round with LGYC having some input as to how to have a retrieval boat, permanent race course, flag pole, etc. Their will be more details to come.

Put your thinking caps on as to how we can use the area to benefit our community and friends down the hill, further the experience, exposure, and sport of the wonderful world of model yachting--be it radio controlled sailing, racing, scale working models, or slow electric (sorry no gas).

I would like to thank some club members that helped make it happen.
